Wyndhurst Traditional Neighborhood Development,
Lynchburg, Virginia:

Strategic Land Planning prepared the community plan and design guidelines for one of the last major infill properties within the City of Lynchburg. The new mixed-use community is designed as a Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND), a concept of community modeled after development patterns of small towns and urban neighborhoods built before 1940. The 170-acre site will feature traditional street patterns, parks, squares, and civic uses, walkable neighborhoods, and a community center of retail shops and offices along the community's new Amain street." SLP is currently preparing detailed design layouts for the core area mixed use development blocks.

Quaker Hill Residential Community and Hechinger Commons Retail Center, Alexandria, Virginia:
A premier public-private development in Old Town Alexandria. The Alexandria Redevelopment & Housing Authority (ARHA) held a developer competition for the sale and development of a former public housing site with the goal of creating new affordable housing on-site and using the land sale income to fund additional off-site units. With SLP as community designers, the 35-acre site was successfully redeveloped with a mix of 300 homes at various densities (20% of which were controlled by ARHA) and a 150,000 square foot retail/office complex, known today as Quaker Hill and Hechinger Commons.

North Wales Estate Strategic Evaluation Plan, Fauquier County, Virginia:
SLP served as principal land planners for the strategic plan for this 4,000-acre estate owned by Cooper Communities, Inc. The study, conducted in support of Halcyon Real Estate Advisors / Ernst & Young, undertook environmental analyses and developed alternative concept plans for the property. All the plans included the preservation of a 770-acre Manor House preserve, with the remainder of the property developed under different market concepts. These included golf course community, large-lot rural subdivision, and mixed-use rural village concepts.
